Let Me Tell You About Webcomics: A New Postmodern Genre
by Paige Gelsimino
In Olympus Overdrive there are several instances where the reader can choose how one of the characters respond. In one conversation between Max, Hades, Zeus, and Ellie, the reader gets to choose several times what some of the characters say. At one point the reader can choose what questions Hades will ask Zeus, with the options being "What else did you hear about this?" or "So? Did you get any information on her current location?" or "An event? What kind of event?" (Oskar).

There’s even a part in it that lets the reader choose which character is going to intervene in an argument with what that character will say.

This lets the reader take on the writer’s role, instead of having a set way the characters can respond. The reader is the one making the flow of the story, not the writer anymore.
